What is Diabetes?

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic and currently incurable condition in which too much glucose (sugar) is present in the blood.

This arises because the body cannot use the glucose properly, either because of a lack of the hormone insulin or because the insulin available does not work effectively. Not only is excess sugar found in the blood but it may appear in the urine too.

The name diabetes mellitus derives from the Greek word 'diabetes' meaning siphon - to pass through, and 'mellitus,' the Latin for honeyed or sweet. It refers to a major symptom of diabetes, sugar in the urine, and is a far more acceptable name than the one it was known by in the 17th Century - when it was called the 'pissing evil.'

Diabetes has been a recognized condition for over 3,500 years. About 2,000 years ago, it's said that Arataeus of Cappadocia described diabetes as 'a melting down of the flesh and limbs into urine.' This reflected the weight loss and excess passing of urine that occurs in acute, undiagnosed diabetes.

Diabetes is common, and 1.4 million people* in the UK are known to have it. However, an equal number, if not more, are believed to have diabetes yet not know it. More than three-quarters of those with diabetes have what is now called Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This used to be known by the other names of 'non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM)' and 'maturity-onset diabetes mellitus'. The remainder have Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, which used to be known as 'insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.'

Why I write this Book?

The aim of revealing the  Holy Quran is to work according to its verses/principles and teachings as it suits all times and places .

Due to the international appeal to modernize the Holy Quran and explain its verses [Ayat] on scientific basis/ I tried to explain some of them and some of the Hadith of prophet [peace and blessing be upon him]

This could also be an answer to the suspicious calls which describe islam as a primitive religion that will never cope with modern civilization

I based my explanation of these verses and Hadith on the science of hormones and diabetes. As diabetes is intentionally dominant I link the verses and the Hadith with modern researches from all over the word to prove that islam is the preventive medicine for this disease hoping the reader will state his  opinion [a person is little by himself/ more by his brother]

And verily, it is an honorable well-fortified respected Book (because it is Allâh's Speech, and He has protected it from corruption). See V.15

Why Islam is the  preventive medicine for Diabetes

Generally diseases divided into old and new diseases  old diseases like leprosy; Tuberculoses and diabetes new   diseases like HIV ;  H5N1

Old  Egypt ion  ;Greece and Arabs  mention diabetes in their books  but only diabetes .in new and old disease became intentional dominant in all places .ages and religions

Diseases divided into Genetic and inherited or acquired inherited disease like  Thalassemia if  any one of the parent or both  has disease some children will got the disease but if both  haven’t genetic thalassemia will never occur in their children

But in diabetes if any one of the parents got the  disease  their will 2 out of 10  diabetic  if both parents diabetic their will be 4 out of 10diabtic and the disease will occur 10 years earlier than the age of their parent  some parent if the glucose level in the highest normal  the children may be  diabetic latter on

Diabetes may occur due to Virus infection or antibodies 
Each disease has cause  smoking  lung cancer emphysema Mycobacterium will cause Tuberculoses

But diabetes has internally Genetic and externally  food  -stress and        exercise and these factors is available in each every time and place and we  cant live without   it   If any one has ability for   inherited disease any external cause like chemotherapy ,trauma , endurance thalassemia or pregnancy will allow the  diabetes to occur but these  will not happen  with  other diseases        

Beta-cells is the most sensitive part in the body Only diabetes cause complications such as blindness heart disease kidney failure amputation
